Help

Quick answers, plain words.

The questions families ask us most. If yours isn’t here, we read every email at [email protected] and answer the same day.

Getting started

The first ten minutes — from opening the email to a wall display showing real calendar events.

How do I pair a wall display?
Open Den on the tablet you want to use as the wall. It shows a 6-digit code and a QR. Scan the QR with your phone (or open Den on your phone, go to Settings → Pair a wall display, and type the code). The wall switches to live mode within a few seconds.
How do I add my partner so they can see and edit too?
Open Den → Settings → Family → Invite. Send the invite link to your partner. When they tap it and sign in with Google, they join your family with full access — same calendar, same chores, same lists.
Can I link more than one Google account?
Yes — that's a core part of why Den exists. Each parent can link their personal Gmail and a work Google Workspace account. Each linked calendar can be toggled on or off for the wall, so a personal calendar can hide on the kitchen display while still showing on your phone.
Can I use Den without Google Calendar?
Today, no — Google Calendar is the source of truth for events in v1. Outlook arrives in v1.5 and iCloud after that. Chores, lists, and photos work without Google.

On the wall

What happens if the wifi goes out?
The wall keeps showing the last calendar it knew about. As soon as wifi comes back, the wall reconnects on its own and catches up. You won't see an error message during the blip — just a small offline marker in the corner.
How do I rename or remove a wall display?
Settings → Wall displays. Each paired wall shows up there with its last-seen time. Tap to rename it ("iPad in the kitchen") or remove it. Removing kicks the wall back to the pairing screen the next time it checks in.
Voice add isn't working — why?
Voice on the wall needs a working microphone and a stable internet connection. On iPad, make sure Den has microphone permission (Settings → Safari → Microphone). On Fire HD, Silk asks for the mic the first time you use it. If the parse looks wrong, you can edit it on the confirmation card before it lands on the calendar.

Calendar, chores, photos

The calendar isn't syncing — what do I do?
Open Settings → Google accounts. Each linked account shows its last sync status. If something is red, tap to re-link. The most common cause is a Google account that hasn't been opened in a while; signing in once usually fixes it. If a sync stays stuck, write us at [email protected] with the family name and we'll investigate.
How do I upload our family photos?
Personal photo upload is a Plus feature. On your phone, go to Photos → Add. Pick photos from the camera roll; they upload to Den's storage and start showing on the wall screensaver right away. Free families see the curated screensaver until they upgrade.
Do my kids need their own login?
No — kids never need an account. Add them as family members with a name and a color. They can mark chores done from the wall, and their calendar events show up alongside everyone else's. We made this choice on purpose: no kid emails, no kid passwords, no kid data we have to protect.

Plans, billing, and the future

How do I change my plan or cancel?
Settings → Plan → Manage. That opens our billing portal where you can switch between monthly and annual, update your card, or cancel. If you cancel, your family stays on the paid tier until the end of the period you've already paid for, then drops to Free.
Will Den keep working if I don't pay?
Yes. The free tier is real — calendar, chores, lists, voice, and a curated screensaver, indefinitely. If you cancel a Plus subscription, you go back to Free. Your family, your Google links, your chores, your photos all stay (photos go back to the curated screensaver until you upgrade again).
Is my data safe?
We never sell data. We never train AI on your family's calendars, voice, or photos. Voice is transcribed and parsed into structured events — the transcript itself isn't stored. Your photos stay in our private storage with row-level access rules so no other family can see them. Full details in the privacy policy.
How do I delete my family entirely?
Settings → Delete family. You'll be asked to type the family name to confirm, with a summary of what's about to be deleted. The cascade is irrevocable — Stripe subscription cancelled, photos removed from storage, Google webhook subscriptions released, family row and all members deleted, you're signed out. We don't keep a copy.

We’re a small team. There’s no ticketing system, no chatbot, no “we’ll get back to you in 3-5 business days.” Just an inbox, read by the people building Den.
